The First Great Train Robbery (1979)

This 1979 film directed by Michael Crichton stars Sean Connery as a safe cracksman attempting to make off with a load of gold with his accomplice Agar, played by Donald Sutherland. The soundtrack was only available on vinyl for a long time, until 2004 when a reissued CD score was released by Varese Sarabande. This is pretty expensive, but I managed to come across an old copy of the record so I picked it up. The music by Jerry Goldsmith is a classic rousing adventure score. If you like what you hear, I would suggest trying to find a copy of the CD which has additional tracks.

Tracks:
1. Main Title
2. No Respectable Gentleman
3. Double Wax job
4. Casing the Station
5. The Gold Arrives
6. Kiddie Caper
7. Clues
8. Rotten Row
9. Torn Coat
10. End Title

  1. Similarly, in his screenplay Crichton used another real-life character from Chesney's book, that of a housebreaker called Williams, that is the reason of the success of the movie, excellent performance had Sean Connery
